Man tased after police say he punched officer

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — A man is in custody after assaulting a police officer, forcing officers to tase him early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Lexington Police say they got a call about a suspicious car behind the Day’s Motor Lodge on Versailles Road.

When police approached, they say the man became belligerent towards officers and began throwing punches.

After striking an officer, they say the suspect was tased and placed under arrest. The officer suffered minor injuries.

Police say it’s unclear what charges he will face but they expect at least third degree assault and resisting arrest.
