UPDATE: Lexington shooting victim dies, ruled a homicide
Update from September 3, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says a man who was shot Friday afternoon in Lexington died from his gunshot wound. The report says the death has been ruled a homicide.
The coroner’s office identified the victim as 41-year old Tony Demetrius Lyvers, of Lexington. The report says he died at the hospital at 1:48 p.m.
Lexington Police say Lyvers was found shot in the 300 block of Chestnut Street around 12:30 p.m.
As of this writing, no suspect(s) had been named or arrested.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man suffered life-threatening injuries during a shooting shortly after noon Friday, according to Lexington Police.
Officers received a ‘shorts-fired’ call at about 12:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Chestnut Street just off Third Street. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot, police said.
Officers did not disclose where the victim was shot, but residents in the area and police scanner traffic said the man was shot in the neck and was taken to UK Medical Center. Police said they were told the injury was life-threatening.
Police could not provide other details about the victim.
Police also said they did not want to disclose possible suspect information, a possible weapon or how the possible shooter might have left the scene. Residents at the scene suggested a man left going toward Third Street, but police couldn’t confirm that information.
