Officials: Man shot in Laurel County Amvets parking lot will be presented to Grand Jury

LAUREL COUNTY Ky. (WTVQ) –

Officials say this investigation will be presented to the next term of the Laurel County Grand Jury for consideration.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- In Laurel County, deputies are investigating a shooting in the Amvets parking lot just before 12:30 a.m.

Deputies say two people involved in an ongoing fight got into a scuffle that led to a gunshot that hit 69-year-old Donnie Mabe.

He is in the ICU at UK Medical Center.

According to deputies, William Helton from Corbin called 911 saying he thought he shot someone.

Investigators say they’ve recovered a gun and are trying to determine the circumstances around the shooting.
