Man seriously injured when struck by train near downtown Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a train Thursday afternoon near downtown Lexington.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, the incident happened at about 4:10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Old Main Street.

A southbound Norfolk Southern train was “blowing its horn,” but a man who was standing on the tracks “failed to move out of the way in time,” according to the fire department.

The man was clipped by the train and suffered leg and other injuries. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, firefighters said.
