Man sentenced to 15 years in 2020 Lexington drive-by shooting that left 5-year-old blind
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A man involved in a 2020 Lexington drive-by shooting that left a young boy blind has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
According to court records, Michael Lemond pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of second-degree assault and two amended counts of second-degree wanton endangerment. Lemond was sentenced to 10 years on the first assault charge and five years on the second, with a total of 12 months combined on the remaining counts.
The charges stem from a December 2020 drive-by shooting that injured then five-year-old Malakai Roberts, who was struck by a bullet while sleeping inside his home and left permanently blind.
