Man pleaded guilty to hitting and killing Lexington cyclist

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – The man accused of killing a cyclist in 2015 pleaded guilty to murder on Monday morning.

According to officials Odilon Paz-Salvador pleaded guilty for hitting and killing Lexington attorney Mark Hinkel.

Witnesses say Hinkel was struck head-on, landing in the bed of Paz-Salvador’s pickup during the Horsey Hundred cycling event in Scott County.

Paz-Salvador traveled three miles with Hinkel in the truck before Georgetown police spotted Hinkel and stopped Paz-Salvador.

Hinkel died shortly after at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
