Man in McCraken Co. arrested after standoff

MCCRAKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Scary moments Friday in McCracken County when a man barricaded himself from police in an occupied apartment. A photo from the Sheriff’s department shows responders rescuing a child.

Deputies say they found an assault victim at the apartments then minutes later got a call from a woman who said a man had broken into her friend’s apartment.

The woman living there told police she and three young children locked themselves in the bedroom.

The fire department worked together with officers to get those people out of the apartment.

Eventually, police were able to take 28-year-old Terry Scates from Paducah into custody.
