Man with Lexington ties accused of shooting rampage, murder in Texas

AUSTIN, Tx. (WTVQ/WVUE) – A man accused in a shooting spree and murder in Texas has ties to Lexington.

The Austin Police Department named Charles Curry as a suspect in four shootings on Wednesday and a murder on Monday.

According to WVUE-TV in Austin, Texas, police say the shootings were random.

The first happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday, when a 33-year-old woman was shot in the head while driving with her three children, according to WVUE.

Police say they received three more reports of shootings shortly after that.

Investigators tell WVUE they were able to use surveillance video from one shooting scene to identify the suspect’s vehicle and determined Curry was the registered owner of the car.

They also determined the weapon used in a shooting rampage Wednesday matched the one used to kill a man at a South Austin apartment complex on Monday, according to WVUE.

Curry was taken into custody without incident Wednesday.

According to Curry’s LinkedIn page, he worked at Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan in Lexington before moving to Austin.

He also attended Henry Clay High School in Lexington.
