Man killed in officer-involved shooting in Madison Co. identified
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison County coroner has identified the man killed Monday in an officer-involved shooting outside a hotel in Richmond.
The coroner says he is 43-year-old Arthur L. Cox.
Kentucky State Police says its Special Response Team went to the Townplace Suites to arrest Cox on multiple warrants and was believed to be considered armed and dangerous.
Officials say Cox pulled into the parking lot behind the hotel, where he was approached by members of the Special Response Team.
During the encounter shots were fired injuring the Cox, according to investigators.
Police say Cox then drove out of the parking lot and turned right on Colby Taylor Drive, before driving off of the roadway and into some bushes.
They say he was found inside his vehicle by KSP and pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner.
No law enforcement officers were injured, according to officials.
