Man killed in logging accident in Letcher County

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a logging accident has left a Letcher County dead.

State Police say the call came in just before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday about a man injured at a logging site off of Highway 931 North near Whitesburg.

When troopers arrived, they found 48-year-old Jimmy Branson, of Whitesburg, unresponsive. The Letcher County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Branson was struck by a limb that fell when a tree was cut down near him.
