Man killed in Whitley County wreck with salt truck
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – A man has died in southeastern Kentucky where his car collided with a state salt truck as residents braced for an expected winter storm.
Kentucky State Police said 59-year-old Billy R. Stevens of Williamsburg was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday on Kentucky 92 in Whitley County. Two passengers were being treated at a hospital.
In Frankfort, the state legislature canceled its Friday session and state government offices will be closed because of the threat of winter weather.
The National Weather Service is predicting as much as 10 inches of snow could fall on Kentucky’s capital city on Friday, with locations elsewhere in Kentucky receiving up to 10 to 15 inches. Freezing rain and ice are also in the forecast. The service has issued a winter storm warning for the entire state.
