Man Killed In Standoff With Police In Shelby County

 Kentucky State Police said a Shelby county man was shot and killed in standoff with police Tuesday.
 State police said they received a call from the Shelbyville Police Department at 8:49 p.m. to assist with a man who was armed and barricaded in his home on Gray Hill Court.
 Shelbyville police said it began when officers tried to serve a warrant as the home and were met at the door by a man with a gun.
 As a safety precaution, officers set up a perimeter and evacuated several nearby homes.
 State police said negotiators spoke with the man by phone to try and resolve the situation peacefully but when they tried to get into the home, the man fired on them. The officers returned fire, killing the man, according to state police. 
 The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
 State police said they are investigating.
