Man killed in Lexington stabbing identified, teen arrested

UPDATE FROM LEXINGTON POLICE:

UPDATE: June 12, 2025: A 16-year-old has been charged in connection with the homicide that occurred last night on Douglas Avenue.

On June 12, 2025, a 16-year-old was charged with Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Receiving Stolen Property (under $500). They are currently being held at a juvenile detention center.

At this time, all parties have been identified and there are no outstanding subjects.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington Police are investigating a deadly stabbing and are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects.

Late Thursday, the Fayette County Coroner released the name of the victim, identified as 67-year-old Freddie Richard Lynem, Jr., of Lexington. His cause of death is to be determined by autopsy, according to the coroner.

Officers say they were called to Douglas Avenue, near Georgetown Street, around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The case is now being investigated as a homicide.

Police say they are looking for two suspects believed to be in their late teens or early twenties. One was wearing a white T-shirt with black pants, and the other was dressed in all-black clothing with white shoes.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to review their surveillance footage and contact police if they have any information. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.
