Man killed in Friday shooting identified

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in Friday’s shooting on Centre Parkway as 36-year-old Derrico Wallace Jr. of Detroit, Michigan.

Officials say Wallace suffered a gunshot wound at the scene and was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. An autopsy was performed Saturday at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.

According to Lexington Police, officers arrested 36-year-old Erick Morgan shortly after the shooting. Detectives used the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center to help identify and locate the suspect’s vehicle.

Morgan is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remains in custody at the Fayette County Detention Center.
