Man in custody after incident at Harrodsburg hotel

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A suspect is in custody after firing gunshots at officers early Monday (3/25) morning at a Harrodsburg, Ky. hotel.

According to Mercer County Emergency Management, the incident happened at the Quality Inn on Danville Road just after 2:30 am.

A release says a 911 operator received a call about a suicidal person in one of the hotel rooms, and when Harrodsburg police officers arrived there, the suspect fired shots at them.

Kentucky State Police came to assist with its State Negotiator and Tactical Team, and were able to take the man into custody just before 9:00 am. No injuries were reported.

A nearby daycare delayed opening, while the incident was ongoing, and Mercer County Schools delayed some bus routes until it was safe to run them.

Also assisting on scene were the Harrodsburg Fire Department, Mercer County Emergency Services and Mercer County Emergency Management.

The suspect’s name has not been released
