KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Knox County man is charged with attempted murder after investigators say he ran down another man with his truck.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office say 33-year-old Eric Smith intentionally hit the 45-year-old victim with his pick-up on Saturday on Calebs Creek Road near Girdler.

Deputies say they found the victim lying in a ditch near the road.

He was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in critical condition.

Deputies say they later spotted Smith in the truck and when they approached him, they say he took off at a high rate of speed, crashed into a tree then got out and ran.
