Man found dead in Madison County creek

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison County coroner says a man was pulled from a creek in Berea on Tuesday night.

Authorities say someone made an emergency call after spotting a car in a creek off of Paint Lick Road at around 3:30 p.m.

The Madison County Rescue Squad and Berea Fire and Rescue went into the water as soon as it was safe and later discovered a body in the creek.

The coroner says the driver was male but is not releasing the name of the victim yet.

There is no word on why the driver went into the water.

The coroner says he believes the cause of death was drowning but will not know for sure until after an autopsy is done.  That autopsy is expected to happen on Wednesday.
