Man faces charges after disturbance, barricaded subject calls
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 25-year-old man faces numerous charges, including one for tampering with evidence for cutting his dreadlocks to try to disguise himself, following a series of incidents Tuesday morning.
According to Lexington Police, the case started at about 9:10 a.m. when officers received a call of a disturbance between two men, including one with a gun, in the 1500 block of Meade Court. The man with the gun fled in a car before officers arrived but later spotted by an officer at an apartment complex at 1708 Jennifer Road.
He went into an apartment, sparking a “barricaded subject” call at about 10:50 a.m.
But officers successfully talked him out without incident at about 11:30. He was in the apartment alone and didn’t live there, according to police.
According to police, Dieontae Rokeem Gillis faces charges of second-degree burglary for entering the apartment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving a stolen firearm, evidence tampering for cutting his hair in an effort to disguise himself, and receiving stolen property under $10,000 for the car he was driving which was reported stolen.
