Man enters not guilty plea in arraignment on bus stop shooting charges
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington man appeared in court Monday on several charges tied to a recent bus stop shooting.
Jon’Tay Mattingly was arraigned over Zoom from the Fayette County Detention Center, where he entered a not guilty plea.
Mattingly is charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, and tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $50,000, with conditions including electronic monitoring, no weapons, and no contact with the victims. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 29 at 8:30 a.m.
Police say the charges stem from a shooting last Thursday morning near a bus stop at Winburn Drive and McCullough Drive. Investigators say Mattingly shot a man in the head. The victim remains at UK Hospital in critical condition.
According to police, surveillance video and data from Mattingly’s ankle monitor tied him to the crime. He was arrested later that day and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.
