Man charged with stealing packages, Christmas presents: Sheriff

42-year-old charged, packages recovered
POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 42-year-old Powell County man has been charged in connection with the theft of packages, including Christmas presents, from a mailbox.
According to the Powell County Sheriff’s Department, Danny Strange was charged Monday evening after a resident of James Crowe Hollow Road returned home and found packages had been stolen from their mailbox. The packages included Christmas presents for their children.
Deputy Hunter Martin began investigating and Strange was developed as a suspect after conversations with the victim and neighbors. Martin found him at a home on Brittany Lane and recovered the packages, according to the sheriff.
Sheriff Danny Rogers encouraged residents to keep track of their mail and packages at all times but especially during the holidays. He recommended a safe place for drop-off to decrease the chances of having valued items and gifts being stolen. Surveillance cameras are also helpful.
