Man charged with sexual assault on 8-year-old girl

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 51-year-old Corbin man has been charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Edwards arrested Michael Rowland Hunter at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in London following an investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s including forensic interviews and medical examinations.

Investigators determined the girl, who was 8 at the time, had been subjected to sexual intercourse, Root said.

Hunter was charged with rape first-degree – victim 12 years of age or under.

Assisting on the investigation for the Sheriff’s office were: Maj. Chuck Johnson, Sgt. Gary Mehler, Detective Bryon Lawson, Detective Taylor McDaniel, and Detective Robert Reed.
