Man charged with murder in fatal Perry County wreck

HAZARD, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky man has been charged with murder in the death of a 9-year-old from injuries suffered in a wreck last week.

Kentucky State Police said 36-year-old Jason Combs remains in jail and is also charged with driving under the influence, first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment.

Police said Combs, of Perry County, was driving a pickup truck a couple miles north of Hazard last Saturday when the truck collided head-on with a car, injuring the driver and a child riding inside the car. Police said the child died two days later at the University of Kentucky Medical Center from the injuries.
