Man charged with killing family arraigned

CADIZ, Ky. (AP) — A man charged killing his family and an acquaintance has been arraigned in a western Kentucky courtroom.

Ryan Champion is charged with murder in the deaths of his parents, Lindsey and Joy Champion; his sister, Emily K. Champion; and 22-year-old Vito Riservato, who relationship with the family is unclear.

The charges on Friday came about a week after police found the four shot to death at the Champions’ home in Trigg County.

The Kentucky New Era (http://bit.ly/1EfjyUn) reports that during his hearing on Monday, a Trigg County judge set Ryan Champion’s bond at $5 million.

Champion also had public defender Brandi Jones assigned to represent him.

The judge set his next court date for Nov. 13.
