Man charged with murder, DUI after Muhlenberg Co. crash
PENROD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a Franklin man has been charged with DUI after his passenger died in a single-vehicle crash on KY 949.
Troopers say the crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday when 24-year-old Bobby Ammons dropped off the roadway and hit a tree head-on.
Investigators say neither Ammons, nor his passenger, 36-year-old Joshua Stilts, were wearing seat belts.
The Muhlenburg County Coroner pronounced Stilts dead at the scene.
Troopers say they were able to determine that Ammons was under the influence of alcohol.
He was taken to the Owensboro Health – Muhlenburg Community Hospital and treated for minor injuries, before being taken to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
Ammons has been charged with DUI and murder.
