Man charged in Laurel County boating accident due in court

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday for a man charged in a deadly boating accident on Laurel River Lake.

According to court records, 53-year-old Don Peace will appear before Laurel County Circuit Court at 11 a.m. Peace faces charges of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol and operating a boat while intoxicated. State game wardens with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife arrested him following last Tuesday’s crash near the Marsh Branch boat ramp.

The accident claimed the life of Peace’s brother, 53-year-old John Peace, whose funeral was held Sunday at Bowling Funeral Home in London, according to his obituary. The hearing will determine whether the case proceeds to trial.
