Man back in jail after almost two years on the run

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An inmate who failed to return from court-ordered work release almost two years ago is back behind bars.

According to the Fayette County Detention Center, 38-year-old Roth Lee Baughman Jr. is back in the Lexington Division of Community Corrections’ custody and facing more potential jail time.

He is charged with two counts of second-degree escape and his prior charge of misdemeanor probation violation. His bond is set at $25,000, according to jail records.

With assistance from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office as well as law enforcement in Madison County, Baughman was caught Wednesday.

Baughman had failed to return from court ordered work release on Sept. 24, 2019, jail officials said.
