Man arrested twice in less than 24 hours

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A man in Laurel County has been arrested twice within a 24 hour period.

The Laurel County sheriff reports that 42 year-old Joseph Adkins of Corbin was arrested Tuesday afternoon when deputies were dispatched to a motel off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy.

Deputies received a complaint that a male suspect was allegedly in the motel parking lot trying to get into vehicles.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the male subject passed out on the hallway floor of the motel.

Deputies woke the suspect who then cursed at them and created a disturbance.

The sheriff reports that there was a odor of alcohol on Adkins, that he had slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.

Adkins allegedly made several threat to the arresting deputies and bystanders.

He is charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct in the 2nd degree, criminal mischief in the 3rd degree, and terroristic threatening in the 3rd degree.

Less than 24 hours before his arrest Tuesday afternoon, Adkins was arrested off April Lane after deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint.

After an investigation, Adkins was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct, both in the 2nd degree.

He is currently being held at the Laurel County Detention Center.
