Man arrested after pursuit in stolen truck in Daviess County
Owensboro, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say they arrested a man who led them on a chase following a traffic stop.
State police say they received a report that a truck stolen in Hancock County was possibly in the Owensboro area.
Troopers spotted the truck on the US 60 bypass and made a traffic stop at the Hawesway Truck Stop on Monday.
They say the driver, Douglas Elwanger of Lewisport, got out of the truck, then jumped back in and took off on US 60.
Trooper say the female passenger got out of the truck as Elwanger took off.
The pursuit ended after about a mile when Elwanger pulled over and was taken in to custody.
Elwanger is charged with fleeing or evading, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, disorderly conduct, speeding, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Elwanger also had a McLean County Bench Warrant for failure to appear and was a fugitive from another State.
