Man arrested after police chase and crash in Graves County
HICKORY, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a man was arrested after a pursuit and foot chase after they say he ran a stop sign in Graves County.
Investigators say 33-year old Mark Basham, of Paducah, ran a stop sign at the intersection of KY 1748 and U.S. 45 on Friday, just before 2:00 p.m.
KSP says Trooper Mike Ray saw Basham run the stop sign, tried to pull him over but that Basham sped off, passed in a no passing zone before crashing into an earth embankment while trying to pull into a driveway on Pritchett Road.
State Police say Basham ran from the car after the crash, but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Basham was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs .08% 1st Offense, Fleeing and Evading 1st Motor Vehicle, Fleeing and Evading 2nd on Foot, Disregarding a Stop Sign, Improper Passing and Possession of Open Alcohol Container.
Basham was taken to the Graves County Jail.
