LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Gray man was arrested early Tuesday morning after deputies stopped a vehicle reported stolen and determined the driver was intoxicated, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff John Root said Deputy Arnold Arnett, assisted by Deputy Matt Walker, arrested 30-year-old Charles T. Tuttle of Gray at about 4:16 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, following a traffic stop on Barbourville Road, about six miles south of London.

Deputies had earlier been dispatched by the London–Laurel County 911 Communications Center to a complaint that a man had allegedly forced entry into a residence and stolen a vehicle. A female victim told deputies that Tuttle allegedly entered the home, took the vehicle keys, and left without her consent.

Authorities said deputies later located a gray Ford Escape matching the description of the reported stolen vehicle in the area. After initiating a traffic stop, deputies confirmed it was the stolen vehicle and noted the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment. An investigation determined the driver was under the influence, officials said.

Tuttle was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second offense, and theft by unlawful taking of an automobile valued at $1,000 or more but less than $10,000.

He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
