Man arrested in Knox County after a standoff with police

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The sheriff’s office in Knox County says it has arrested a man after a standoff.

According to the Mountain Advocate, 43-year-old Michael Sampson assaulted someone.

Then when deputies arrived, Sampson barricaded himself inside his home in the Bimble community.

The sheriff’s department says a deputy negotiated with Sampson and took him into custody.

The Mountain Advocate reports deputies found a loaded handgun and what they suspected was crystal meth inside Sampson’s home.

He’s been charged with assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance.
