Man arrested in Tennessee after Lexington kidnapping and assault, police say

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — A man accused of kidnapping and assault during a disorder call in Lexington was arrested Thursday in Tennessee, according to Lexington Police.

Police say the incident happened Thursday morning on Flemishbond Path. Investigators used the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center and other techniques to track the suspect’s vehicle to Knox County, Tennessee.

With help from ATF offices in Lexington and Knoxville, along with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Police, and Tennessee Highway Patrol, authorities took 29-year-old Reza Jalali into custody.

Jalali is charged with kidnapping (serious physical injury), first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree assault, and third-degree terroristic threatening in connection to the Lexington incident.

He is currently being held at the Knox County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Fayette County.
