Man arrested in connection with July 2 shooting in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a July 2nd shooting that left a woman injured on Cambridge Drive.

According to police, officers were sent to the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive around 2:37 a.m. on July 2, after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a female victim with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Josiah Riggs. He was arrested Saturday, and has been charged with Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, according to police. Riggs is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
