Man arrested for strangulation in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, KY — A man has been arrested for allegedly strangling a pregnant woman who was also holding another baby.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Paul Samuel Owens was arrested on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. off Swafford Drive. This followed a disturbance complaint in the area.

Upon investigation, police learned that Owens was involved in a verbal dispute with a pregnant woman. The altercation escalated into a physical fight, during which Owens allegedly choked the woman and punched her in the head while she was holding a child in her arms.

Owens has been charged with strangulation, assault, and endangering the welfare of a minor. He is currently being held at the Laurel County Detention Center.
