Man arrested for burglary and evading police

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) — According to Richmond police, a man from Berea was charged with burglary in connection with two residential break-ins.

A resident of McDaniel Avenue reported that her home had been broken into, and several items had been stolen – including earrings, SD cards, and a laptop. Police say that their investigation turned up a description of the burglar at that time.

A short time later that afternoon, an officer observed 29-year-old Joshua J. Oliver on S. Killarney Lane, carrying a backpack and fitting the description of the suspect. When police began to approach, they reported Oliver fled on foot.

Officers say that he was taken into custody after a lengthy foot pursuit, and a search of his backpack revealed the stolen items as well as jewelry, and a Kindle Fire. The other items were traced back to a S. Killarney Lane that had been broken into earlier that day.

Oliver was charged with two counts of 2nd degree burglary, 2nd degree fleeing police, and 3rd degree Escape.
