Man arrested for allegedly setting a fire in a Dollar General in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Manchester man has been arrested after authorities say he allegedly set a fire inside a Dollar General store in Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Sunday to the store on South Highway 421 after receiving reports of a fire.

Investigators say surveillance video shows a man starting a fire in an aisle using a butane canister that was not sold at the store.

Officials say the fire caused significant damage to merchandise and forced the store to close early.

Deputies later identified and arrested 44-year-old Woodson Roark of Manchester.

Roark is charged with first-degree arson, first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief.
