Man arrested after assaulting police officer

DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)-In Boyle County, police say they arrested a man because he assaulted an officer who pulled him over.

Officers in Danville say they stopped 50-year-old Edward Wilkerson for speeding Friday just before midnight.

Police say they found marijuana and pills inside Wilkerson’s car, and he failed sobriety tests.

According to Danville police, when officers tried to arrest him he fought back and hit them.

Officers say they tazed him, but Wilkerson continued to resist until officers could finally get him into custody.
