Man arrested as suspect in Laurel County drive-by shooting
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Laurel County man is facing charges after deputies say he was involved in a drive-by shooting at a local apartment complex.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Joshua Sawyers was arrested Tuesday night in connection to the investigation. Deputies say Sawyers is accused of firing at least five shots at an apartment complex on Robert E. Cox Road before allegedly speeding away in a vehicle that was missing its front bumper.
Investigators say Sawyers admitted to driving the car but denies firing any shots during the incident.
No additional details about possible injuries or damage were immediately released. The case remains under investigation.
Sawyers is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, February 24.
