Man arrested after hit-and-run collision with horse and buggy in Bath County

BATH COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Mount Sterling man faces multiple charges after allegedly striking a horse and buggy and fleeing the scene early Friday, Kentucky State Police say.

New video provided to ABC36 NEWS NOW by viewer Alvin Pollard appears to show a vehicle, allegedly driven by 21-year-old Ricardo Salas, colliding with the horse and buggy on KY 11. Troopers report Salas stopped briefly to check his car for damage before driving away.

Three children riding in the buggy were taken to UK Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The buggy’s driver was uninjured. Montgomery County deputies located and arrested Salas a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 11.
