Jackson County man charged after false 911 call about stabbing, abduction
JACKSON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Jackson County man is facing charges after deputies say he made a false 911 call that led to a large emergency response.
The sheriff’s office says that around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, 42-year-old Douglas Sparks of Tyner reported that he had been stabbed and that his family had been abducted during a home invasion. When first responders arrived, deputies say Sparks admitted that no one had been attacked or taken.
Deputies said the false report put both law enforcement and EMS crews at risk as they rushed to the scene in hazardous conditions.
Sparks is charged with making a false report and multiple counts of wanton endangerment of police officers. He was booked into the Jackson County Detention Center.
