Wayne County man arrested after allegedly stabbing girlfriend during disturbance

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A man is behind bars after deputies say he stabbed his girlfriend Wednesday night in the Oil Valley Trailer Park area.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on East Kentucky Highway 92 shortly after 9 p.m. When they arrived, they found a woman at a neighbor’s house who appeared distressed and covered in blood.

Officials say the victim told deputies her boyfriend came home intoxicated, was aggressive toward her, and began breaking items inside the residence. She reportedly said he then grabbed a knife from inside the home and tried to stab her. While attempting to defend herself, the woman was stabbed in the hand.

Deputies arrested Jeremy Kempton and charged him with assault.
