Man accused of stealing thousands from vulnerable adult

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A caregiver is accused of stealing more than $28,000 from an elderly man.

Court documents say 36-year-old Dorsie Pratt was the caregiver for the man, who was diagnosed with dementia.

Police say, over the course of five to six months, Pratt convinced the man to endorse checks from his account, which Pratt cashed.

Documents say the victim signed over 37 checks, totaling $28,877 to Pratt.

Pratt is charged with exploitation of an adult and theft.
