Man accused of shooting police officer takes plea deal
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A man accused of shooting a police officer avoided trial by agreeing to a plea deal.
Prosecutors say Robert Powers pleaded guilty to nearly half a dozen charges in exchange for a recommended 20-year prison sentence. His trial was supposed to begin today.
Investigators say in October 2015, Powers shot Officer Adam Dixon in the chest while running from police. Officer Dixon survived.
