Man accused of having sex with underage babysitter

GRAY, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a Knox County man admitted to having sex with an underage babysitter a month ago.

Investigators say 32-year old James McCafferty, of Indian Creek, was arrested Monday and charged with rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.

State Police say the young girl babysat for McCafferty in early September without incident, but they say he had sex with the girl on her second visit a week later.

Investigators say the girl told them McCafferty contacted her several times after the reported incident asking her to come back to his house, but she ignored his requests.  They say the girl finally confided in her mother in late September, who then contacted authorities.

McCafferty was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

The case remains under investigation by KSP.
