Man accused of pointing gun at 5-year old stepdaughter

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested for reportedly pointing a gun at his 5-year old stepdaughter because she was splashing bathtub water on the floor.

Investigators say they were called to accompany social services to a home off of Wyatt Road, about 8-miles south of London Monday evening for a welfare check on a 5-year old girl.

Deputies say they learned that 27-year old Michael Vickers of London had reportedly pointed a high point 9mm gun at his stepdaughter.  Investigators say the girl’s mother told them the weapon was a toy.  Deputies say Vickers told them and a social worker that he didn’t think it was a big deal to point a gun at the child.

Vickers was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Menacing.  He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
