Man accused of killing mother back in KY

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man accused of killing his mother is back in Lexington. Police say 64-year-old Shirley Clemons died of asphyxiation.
They were called to Clemons’ home in the 1300-block of River Park Circle for a welfare check on July 14th. Investigators say family members told them they had not heard from her in some time. During that welfare check, with family present, Shirley’s body was found wrapped in a blanket and bound with duct tape, according to court documents. Police say they also discovered a trash bag with Shirley’s purse, bloody clothing and duct tape.
Authorities say they were told the only other person living at the home with her was her son, Jack Clemons, who was missing.
Police say they tracked Clemons to Colorado and that he was in possession of his mother’s credit card and car. Documents say surveillance video showed Clemons’ using his mother’s credit card and her car.
Clemons is charged with murder, tampering with evidence and credit card fraud. He will be arraigned on Friday.
