RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The trial date for Shannon Gilday, the man accused of killing Jordan Morgan during a 2022 home invasion in Richmond, has been delayed until May 2026.
Additionally, the mental health competency hearing originally scheduled for Monday (01/27) has also been postponed and is now set to take place in May 2025. Specific dates for both proceedings have not yet been announced.
Gilday is facing multiple charges, including murder, in connection with the death of Jordan Morgan, the daughter of former state lawmaker C. Wesley Morgan. Prosecutors have stated they are seeking the death penalty in the case.

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Shannon Gilday, the man accused of killing Jordan Morgan, the daughter of former state lawmaker C. Wesley Morgan, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday at 9:30 a.m.
The hearing will address whether the trial date, currently set for May 5, will be extended. Additionally, the judge is expected to set a date for a competency trial to determine if Gilday is fit to face a possible death penalty sentence.
The case, initially handled by the Madison County Commonwealth’s Attorney, has been transferred to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
