Man accused of hitting 4-year-old with car, leaving scene pleads not guilty

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A man accused of hitting a 4-year-old with his car and leaving the scene pleaded not guilty in court Friday afternoon.

The judge ordered Joe Davenport to have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family and set his next court day for Jan. 18.

According to Lexington police, the incident happened on Codell Drive and Monsas Way around 4 p.m. yesterday.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the 4-year-old boy with an injured leg.

Witnesses identified the car to police, and Davenport was found a short time later.

The boy was taken to a local hospital to treat his broken leg and a minor head injury.
