Man, 2 children taken to hospital after being hit by car while crossing road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A man and two children were taken to the hospital Friday morning after being hit by a car while crossing the road near Harrison Elementary School.

The 42-year-old man and two children, ages 5 and 6 years old, were crossing the road at Bruce Street and West Second Street around 7:20 a.m. when they were hit, according to Lexington police.

All three were taken to a local hospital.

One of the children has minor injuries; the father and other child were taken for “precautionary reasons” but all are expected to be OK, police added.

Both children attend Harrison Elementary, Fayette County Public Schools spokesperson Dia Davidson-Smith said.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
