Magnitude 4.4 earthquake jolts Tennessee; felt in Kentucky

DECATUR, Tenn. (AP/WTVQ) – The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck east Tennessee and could be felt in Kentucky.

The light earthquake occurred early Wednesday morning about 7 miles (11 kilometers) northeast of Decatur.

About 13 minutes later, a 3.3 magnitude aftershock then struck.

There were reports that parts of southern Kentucky felt “light shaking” as a result of the earthquake.

It could also be felt as far away as Atlanta, Georgia.

There were no injuries reported.
